How to make Chicken Rolex

The popularity of the Ugandan Rolex over the past few years has sparked great innovation and creativity in food.  Trends Show a rise in the number of people setting up start-up businesses in the food sector.  On the rise is the chicken Rolex as well hence let us learn how to make the chicken Rolex –step by step.

After the Rolex featured on BBC and CNN, Uganda took up the initiative and launched the first-ever Rolex festive on 21st August 2016. This has attracted and promoted the Ugandan Rolex further to other nationalities and tourists.

The following chicken recipe is adapted from the Rolex-prenuer a Rolex initiative helping start-up Rolex business owners to acquire skills on making delicious and value-added Ugandan Rolex.

Ingredients for needed for making 2 Chicken Rolex

  • ½ a Green Cabbage
  • 4 big Onions
  • Green Pepper
  • 2 Carrots
  • 4 eggs
  • 500g Boneless chicken breast
  • Lettuce
  • ½ a Purple cabbage
  • Mayonnaise
  • Tomatoes
  • Green paper
  • 2 already made chapattis
  • `1 tsp Curry powder
  • 1 tsp Royce,
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tsp superior dark soy sauce

 Step by step process of how to make Chicken Rolex

  1. Boil or grill the boneless chicken until it is ready
  2. Put it aside to cool, you can cut it into smaller pieces 
  3. Finely chop the green paper, and onions. Set them aside.
  4. Pour the vegetable oil into a frying pan, heat it for about two minutes. Add the chopped onions and green paper and mix for two minutes, then add the thin chicken pieces.
  5. Stir fry the chicken until it is mixed well.
  6. Add the rest of the spices, that is; curry, Royce, black pepper, white pepper, superior dark soy sauce 
  7. Mix in the spices well for about 5minutes.
  8. Get the plan off fire and let it cool
  9. Grate your cabbage in to thin and light slices
  10. When the chicken has cooled down, add 3 spoons of chicken mixture into 2 eggs, whisk well with cabbage
  11. Set the frying pan onto medium heat. Heat the oil up, then pour the egg mixture and spread it well. Fry it on both sides for about 2 minutes until it is dry.
  12. Place the chapatti on a chopping board, Cover the chapatti with the fried egg mixture

  1. Let it sit for a few seconds for it to cool a bit

Garnish with fresh lettuce and either mayonnaise or ketchup for an extra tasty and crunchy taste

  1. Roll the wrap and cut it into desired pieces. You may leave it whole if you are a pro at eating neatly.
  2.  Serve hot with your favorite coffee, tea or drink. It is best enjoyed hot.
